Sunday Reflections

The countdown to Christmas has begun!  Absolute craziness; I have no idea where November went!  Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you, I guess.  It snowed Saturday during my town's annual parade and "Christmas On the Common" festival.  There's food, crafts, Christmas trees, music and this year - snow!  It was cold but the snow was beautiful on the trees.  Kettle corn, hot cocoa, clam chowder, fried dough... The five different dancing schools in my town all perform to the same song (Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You").
Town gatherings such as this are always an opportunity to run into people you don't want to and force you to improve your Awkward Small Talk Skills.  People in my town usually see it as a time to get together and gossip, to see who's pregnant, who's getting divorced, who dropped out of school, etc.  I suppose it gives me a chance to catch up with people who are away at school, reflect on my life and be grateful for where I am, or rather who I am.
I have a rough life sometimes and I don't like complaining.  I like who I am for the most part though, and I know how lucky I am to live the life I do.  I think I sometimes forget how extremely fortunate I am.  My life may not be perfect, but it definitely could be a hell of a lot worse.
