Surprise
Things didn't quite turn out as I expected today but nevertheless, it was truly a good day. I was supposed to have coffee with a friend of mine, and then breakfast with another. I ran late this morning so I had to reschedule the coffee date and my friend hurt her back so we're meeting for breakfast on Thursday morning instead. I had breakfast with a few other friends instead and we had a good time, so much so that I found myself smiling for the rest of the day.
I went to Environmental Geology and did course evaluations (I wish they included a comments section). I blocked out the monotone droning about global warming and sipped my pumpkin spice coffee happily while I shopped for Christmas presents online. I didn't have Bharatanatyam class since we have rehearsal for our dance show every night this week so my friend and I went to the mall for a little bit to get yoga pants.
We went to dance rehearsal and I almost passed out I was so nervous! The other girls have been rehearsing for our showcase this weekend for the past three weeks so they're used to the intensive warmup that the dance instructor is notorious for running and I was terrified after all the horror stories they were telling me. The dance instructor had us do AN HOUR WARMUP before we rehearsed. Warmups involved about ten minutes of ballet warmups like pliés, jetés and rond de jambes until our feet bled, then high kicks for twenty minutes, abs for about twenty minutes, followed by leaps across the stage for the final ten. We changed into our costumes, still red-faced and sweating from warmups. We ran our number - a twenty minute number, mind you. I have never changed my clothes and run out of a rehearsal so fast; I couldn't wait to get out of there.
After I ate dinner and showered, I watched The Green Mile for the second time in two days. I was shocked that I ended up really liking it. He always said I'd like it but I never believed him. Overall, it was a really good day, the first one I've had in a while. It's good to know that I had a good day, worked hard and I'm one step closer to the showcase.
