I'd Like to Thank the Academy
For the first time in my life, I actually sat down and watched the Oscars! I always watch the Tony Awards, occasionally the People's Choice, and never the Grammys, VMAs, Emmys or Golden Globes. The Tony Awards are my thing, especially if I know Neil Patrick Harris and/or Hugh Jackman is performing. I'm glad I watched it though (all four hours of it); it made me realize that I really want to see all of the movies nominated for Best Picture!
Here are a few of my thoughts on tonight's award show:
Here are a few of my thoughts on tonight's award show:
- Top 3 Best Dressed Women: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior, Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton and Jessica Chastain in Armani Privé. Everyone was talking about Amy Adams and Charlize Theron, but Samantha Barks and Amanda Seyfried looked understated but classy, as did Jennifer Hudson.
- Seth Macfarlane isn't funny. The best part of his entire hosting was the bit with the sock puppet reenactment of Flight. It's pretty bad if sock puppets are better than you, Seth.
- Adele underwhelmed me. I was waiting for her to show up the entirety of the song but she never did. She's an incredible artist and the potential was there, but I had this feeling she was holding back, which left me hanging.
- When in doubt, put your money on Jennifer Hudson. She has never failed me yet!
- Barbra has still got it! Considering her age, the fact that she hates performing live and she was sentimental/upset over the passing of her friend and colleague, she was incredible.
- Sandra Bullock's face when she struggled to open the envelope is all over Tumblr. And rightfully so.
- GO JENNIFER LAWRENCE! I love this girl. She's got such a fantastic attitude about life and love. She's sassy and fierce, while still being fun, hilarious and friendly. She's clumsy (always falling, tripping, ripping her dress), she's real - which is what I think I really love about her. She seems like an awesome best friend to have. I haven't seen Silver Linings but I was banking on her winning anyway! She totally deserved the award, if only because I adore her.
- I love Anne Hathaway, who is such a positive role model that she refuses to discuss her Les Mis diet in case there are any people out there who would want to copy her. She's fun and flirty, yet poised and graceful. She also deserved her award, simply because I love her.
- That being said, I also love Hugh Jackman. However, I only had ears for Samantha Barks. She's flawless.
- Avengers Assemble! They always crack me up. I think it's mostly RDJ plus Chris Evans, with some Samuel L. Jackson thrown in there.
- My favorite boys, Daniel Radcliffe and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, did some soft-shoe tap dancing. I DIED.
